Week 19 Today and Yesterday
Yesterday i went in at 11:30 for a dicussion with Karen and Pat on what design i am going to make from my CDP Project, i was surprised that i managed to come up with all of the 100 designs and found it wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. I also found out what changes i would need to do to my design to make it work better.

                 Design i want to make---->

Today was a day to catch on my blog as i had got a bit behind so it was lucky i had today to catch up.

Week 18 22-26th Feb
Didn't get back from London Fashion Week till tuesday but was ill wednesday but i managed to go to Lectra on thursday where we learnt how to manipulate the patterns and how to change their shape. By using the marry tool i was able to make sure that the seams all matched up and then i had to simply divorce the pieces to put them on their own sheet again.
After that session i went to the library to finish writing up my notes and print them off, I also handed all my work in on Thursday.

London Fashion Week
During the 18th to 23rd Feb i helped out at London fashion week, it was a really good experience and showed how there is a glamourous and non-glamourous side to fashion. I helped out in Backstage B but sadly didn't get to dress much but got to see a few shows=]
Thursday
Is the day i arrived in London, i got the coach up there but wished we got it a bit earlier as then we had to rush to get to our hostel which was called the generator, it was a very weird looking hostel but however was my first time staying in one. Once there we left our luggage in the luggage room and quickly set off to victoria house as we had to be there for 2pm.
When we were there we were given a briefing and met the team leaders and then had a tour and got started helping out. I first helped with setting up glass tables which were really pretty like origami shaped, and had to make up the stools to go with them, I helped move mannikins around both out of rooms and into the stock room. Moved a whole lot of water from the loading bay to put into the stock room ready for the shows, also had to do some litter picking, but ended the day blowing up helium balloons.
I found it so weird having to share a room with 7 other people luckily they were all from the year group, but i'm not used to having to share a room or having to share toilets and showers with a whole floor of other people, that was the weirdest thing to get used to.
Friday
Started at 12:15 and had to move some wine glasses and then helped give badges out to show we were staff. I also helped out front of house by managing the doorways for after the catwalk had finished. I also got to watch the 14:00 Ramon Gurillo's show which was really cool actually getting watch one straight away=]

After that i had to wait to be called to dress for the 16:15 Ashley Islam show, when i was assigned to what model i'd be dressing i had to make sure everything was there, the model i had to dress was called Ming she was a bit late but was a really lovely person, plus i only had to help do one changeover so wasn't too bad. However after the show a pair of earrings went missing i helped look for them but i don't think they were found, so helped put plastic over garments. Did some more front of house till 19:30. It was such a tiring day.
Saturday
Started at 10, and helped take covers off garments and then went and watched the 11:30 Bryce Aime catwalk and then went at 12 till 3.
After came back i helped set up catwalk by putting stuff on benches and also helped with how the models would be positioned.
Helped out front of house by greeting people outside and had to hold up on/off umbrellas it was freezing outside and was out there for quite a while. But luckily got out of it as had to have a briefing on party and then help move benches and put stuff on them, I got to watch the 19:15 J.Maskrey show which was really good and inspiring. After moved benches for party and helped bring glasses to bar.
The party had Sugar babes singing there, they were really nice and said bye to us as they left.
Sunday
Started at 14:00 and went straight to helping the 13:45 Falguni & Shane Peacock show as they needed help with dressing and zips. Did some more setting up and also had to move benches and clean the floor for the Richard Sorger Presentation show which i got to help dress back stage as only 3 of us was needed. After the show i helped put the garments from the show onto mannikins.
Monday
Spent the day shopping on oxford street as didn't have to be in till 5pm so that hurt the student finance a bit opps.
But when got to on/off at 5 found out we weren't needed till 8 as the 19:45 Ziad Ghanem show brought their own dressers so instead i watched the Pam Hogg 17:15 show which had on the front row Nick Cave, Jefferson Hack, Pearl Lowe, Peaches Geldoff and Jaime Winstone. After that show i helped start to de-rig we finished about 10:00 where they gave us a little party of cakes, drinks and goody bags.

Tuesday
Got up at 6:30 to catch 8:05 train home as hadn't been feeling so great and just wanted to home to sleep. But the experience was amazing.

Week 17 15th-19th Feb
This week i was ill so only managed to make it in on tuesdays lesson as we had to present our New York presentation, this went quite well and luckily we got to go first. I now understand what i need to do to make a powerpoint presentation better.
On the 18th i left for London Fashion Week=]

Week 16 8th-12th Feb
During this week we learnt in monday how to draw illustrations of designs, we did them from magazines to start off, we had to use the 9 heads rule where the figure had to fit 9 heads of the head size drawn. This was very useful and took a lot of rubbing out and some patients.
On tuesday we had feedback with Karen about our last projects, I was pretty disappointed as i didn't do as well as i wanted to but i still managed to pass, i was really scared that i wasn't going to pass that unit. I now know what i need to do to get a better grade=] And really want to try and do better in this latest project.
Thursday we had a Jersey workshop where we learnt about what equipment we'd need to make the jersey, we'd have to use the overlocker to put the jersey together and either twin needle or coverstitch machine.  On the friday we got to plotted our patterns which was really cool as it both printed and cut the pieces and so all i had to do was pull it from the excess paper. I also managed to both cut out the fabric and make the jersey in that day.

Week 15 1st-5th Feb
During this week we carried on designs and got to draw a jersey working drawing using illustrator which will be used for my lectra jersey workshop. I didn't find it as hard as i did before and it was quite fun making it from scratch in illustrator.
Also in my Lectra session we learnt how to lay plan our pattern pieces and how to fit them the most efficiently. I really like using the Lectra program.
We also had feedback tutorials with Pat on Tuesday about how we did in our pattern cutting and construction work. I was so happy with the mark i got considering i have never done any of it before i started here.
