Eden project

At the weekend i went to have a look at the Eden Project in Cornwall. I have to say that the rainforest biome was absolutely amazing especially how they managed to get the temperature to that of a rainforest, it was so humid inside. The waterfall was also amazing.
I managed to take some really interesting pictures of plants there, as I've been thinking about doing my professional project on plants or a garden.

There was one paritcular flower which I thought would look great as a fascinator.

Kaledo

I was only in the morning today as we were in small groups having another session on kaledo. I managed to draw my technical sketch for my draping project.
I also made a tshirt and learnt how the ribbing is easier to do than on illustrator.

More pocket samples and Kaledo

Today I did some more pocket samples, this time the invisible patch pocket and I also had time to make a structured pocket. The structured pocket was very very simple to make.

I also got to have a go at the Lectra based program Kaledo, which is quite a lot like Adobe Illustrator but is a bit simplier.

Pocket Samples

Today I managed to create the One Piece Jetted and Welted Pocket, I found these easy to do, the Jetted was a bit more tricky as it had to be very precise but other than that I was happy to be able to construct them.

I also had a go at changing the Jacket pattern using Lectra, it was quite easy to change the length and is nice that the pattern pieces needed are already digitised into the system.

Sophia Kokosalaki

Whilst looking for inspiration for my draping project I came across this Greek designer, Sophia Kokosalaki. I love her garments and they feel so me.

Jacket Project

Finally yesterday I had finished my jacket and i am quite proud with it. I love how the wool was so easy to work with especially when easing in.
I just wished that as it was a structured lesson and we had to keep together that we could have went a bit faster. But still I'm proud of my jacket just wish it fitted properly on me=[

Finished Jacket

Ok all i had left to do now is to make the lining and then bag it out to the jacket. I enjoyed coming to the end of the project as it meant I had a bit more freedom to go the pace I wanted to, so I didn't have to wait around for the next demostration and just get on with it.

Continuing Jacket Construction

I continued making my jacket where i got my sleeves in and shoulder pads and sleeve roll on. I am finding that the process is taking a long time but it really useful to know and is teaching me transferrable skills.

All about experience

I didn't mind today so much as it was a chance to hear what people got up to on their placements, as I haven't actually managed to find out what everyone has done. Its great to hear how many different experiences there are and how each and every one of them can help in our future career.

Royal Bath Hotel Wedding Show

I did another Wedding show today at the Royal Bath hotel in Bournemouth, and Oh my god it is posh. I even managed to get my car valet parked for free I couldn't believe it. I did pretty well compared to the Pavillion show managed to get 5 confirmed appointments. Though the show wasn't very busy so managed to get chatting to other businesses involved in weddings. Atleast I got a free lunch=]

I think these shows are a good opportunity for me to build up contacts in the wedding industry and is also great to see how much work it is to set up plus get people to book appointments.

Strictly come Draping

I don't usually watch Strictly come dancing but i did tonight and amazingly I saw something that was inspiring in the glitzy gowns and costumes they wear.
Michelle Williams wore this gorgeous light green dress, and by the looks off it, it has been created by draping. I love the pleated detail round the neck and all the folds and also the detail near the hip. A stunning dress.

Jackets, finally construction=]

Second Week Back and after a PPRD lesson on monday thinking about ideas of how to raise money for the fashion show, it has made me even more excited to get ready to go.
We have finally got started on the construction of the Jacket on wednesday which is the bit i've been waiting for the most, especially after the endless pain of lay planning.
I really would like to be able to do more for the Jacket project and am thinking about trying to make a different stlye of jacket.

Back to Uni

I absolutely love this dress Cheryl Cole wore on the X factor the other night, I love how simple it is but yet how effective the lace makes it look. It certainly helps bring ideas to mind for when I get to do my collection.

4/10/10 - 8/10/10
Its weird being back at uni especially when i had just got used to working alot, but I am very excited about this year and am looking forward to being able to do my collection, I have even been thinking of ideas over the summer.
First week back and it was straight back to work and having to take so much in at one go. I can tell this year is going to be a busy one. Tuesday and Wednesday we were chucked straight in on making a jacket. We managed to make all 18 pieces of the jacket in pattern cutting on both these days.
